Central Laboratory
In the Central Laboratory we make determinations of chemical and mechanical characteristics - static and dynamic - in different temperature conditions, in accordance with ASTM, EN, DIN, BS, AFNOR, and national and international aviation norms.
The existing facilities in the laboratory ensure the possibility to perform a variety of tests such as: determination of chemical composition, determination of materials hardness, tensile, compression, bending, shear, creep testing, axial fatigue and fracture mechanics testing.
Tests for determination of the chemical composition are performed using the optical emission spectrometer - SPECTROLAB M10, which determines the chemical composition of materials in four bases Fe, Ni, Co and Al.
The percentage of gases (O, N, H) in the development of super-alloys is controlled using ELTRA ONH 2000 analyser.
The analysis of carbon and sulphur content of lightweight materials is made on the LECO CS 244 analyser.
Hardness tests (Brinell, Rockwell, and Vickers) are made using the universal hardness testing device DIATESOR 2RC or using the portable hardness tester HMO SAUTER. This portable hardness tester is equipped with two check rods D and G. The D check rod is used on surfaces with roughness of maximum 1.6 µm and the G check rod is used on as casted and as forged surfaces. For superficial hardened layer thicknesses and metallographic constituents the hardness testing is performed using the micro-hardness tester Wolpert VT11 with loads from 10g to 1000g.
Tensile testing is performed at ambient temperature or at temperatures up to 900°C using the static testing machine Wolpert, having the force of 200kN and a force measurement accuracy of +/- 1%.
Impact bend tests using the Charpy and Izod shock methods can be performed at temperatures between -80°C to 125°C.
In the laboratory we execute the full range of macro and micro qualitative analyses (identification of phase constituents, detection of structural abnormalities, etc.) and quantitative analyses (scale phase/metallographic constituents, depths measurement of deposited layers and of hardened layers, etc.) using the optical microscopy method with 21 NEOPHOT optical microscope (x2000), allowing to make a complete characterization of any type of metallic and non-metallic material.
